A5100 with external recorder. Functions?

Hi!

 

Me and my girlfriend have just started recording some videos for youtube and are currently using the sony a5100 camera.

 

To extend the recording time and to get a second monitor i´ve been looking at a atomos ninja 2. But i got some questions regarding the functionality when using an external recorder.

 

Our setup looks like this: She is sitting at a desk in front of the camera with an ipad connected via playmemories remote that she uses as a monitor to be able to see herself while we are recordning, and i sit some feet back, watching the cameras built in screen.

 

We really enjoy the cameras bulit in skin smoothing filter, wich really prooved to be useful.

 

If i get the atomos ninja external recorder, is it still possible to use the playmemories remote app on the ipad at the same time as the atomos ninja, and vill the skin smoothing still work? Or will all of the recorded material be processed in the external recorder and therefore not get the smoothing effect?

 

Will the screen on the camera itself turn off or will it work as a 3rd monitor?
