a6300 Memory Card error "image database file not ready"

Just got a new a6300. Inserted brand new SanDisk Extreme PRO 64GB SDXC U3 Card, and getting the onscreen error "image database file not ready" with just an OK button, and when I hit OK, it tries to read card again, and error appears again.  Camera seems stuck in this loop, and I can't do anything else.

 

Tried another card I had around, Sandisk Extreme 32GB SDHC U3. Same issue. Any suggestions?

Select [sETUP] [RECOVER IMAGE DB] and try that.

 

If that does not work then turn off the camera, back on again then before trying to read the card, try formatting it.

 

If that does not work then try connecting the card to a PC/MAC and erasing everything on it from there and then re-insert into the camera, it should give you the option to format

Use SD Formatter instead of in-camera.

I had the same issue - I swapped out the battery for a fully charged one and the issue went away i.e. it was able to format.

 

So, maybe charge your battery up fully?

is it possible the memory card(s) you've tried are locked? I got exactly the same error message. When I tried formatting on my computer, however, the SDFormatter utility kindly told me the card was locked :-)  There'll be a small tab on the side of the card and, in very fine print, the word LOCK next to it. Just slide the tab to the opposite position and try again.
