how to use a Sony A7ii and manual lenses with a Sony HVL-F42

Hello....

I have been using my A7ii with a Novaflex lens adapter and my collection of excellent Minolta MD series glass. I have not done any flash photography with the camera and I know that the fine Minolta flash units that I have are not compatible to use with the camera. I took a chance and purchased a mint Sony HLV-42AM flash unit hoping that there would be some information in the user's manual of how to set up the flash while utilizing the camera with manual focus lenses, but there does not appear to be information on how to do that. I have searched the Internet looking for any advice on how to accomplish this and wanted to throw it out there to all of you folks and see if you could help me out with this. Many thanks in advance.
