Puckering/barrel distortion when zooming - a7sii+SEL2870

When I am shooting video with the a7sii and the SEL2870 kit lens, I get this weird puckering or barrel distortion at the 28mm-35mm end of the zoom. It usually happens when I am zooming slowly. I know this lens has significant barrel distortion and the camera needs to compensate. Perhaps the camera cannot compensate fast enough when zooming? Has anyone else encountered this behavior?
