Greetings everyone!

I made the jump from Nikon to the A7R II.

I bought the Metabones F to E mount so that I could use my Tamron SP 15 to 30 and Tamron 70 to 300.

My problem is that the camera wont let me adjust the Aperture. I know I have to shoot in Manual or Aperture Priority. But the indicator reads F0.0 and it lights up orange when I try to change the aperture.

I have Release without Lens and Focus Preaking enabled.

Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thank you!

Did you get the adapter enables aperture change for AF-G type lens? (this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1002616-REG/metabones_mb_nfg_e_bm1_nikon_g_mount_lens.html/prm/alsVwDtl) not this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/983738-REG/metabones_mb_nf_e_bm2_nikon_f_to_e_mount_nex.html

If you have older AF-D lenses, try those with your adapter to see if it works.  These have external aperture ring.

Thank you for your response mkg3. The lenses that I have Tamron SP 15-30 and Tamron 70-300. They are F type lenses. So I got the metabones on the second link F to E (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/983738-REG/metabones_mb_nf_e_bm2_nikon_f_to_e_mount_nex.html) Are you saying the AF-G to E metabones adapter is also compatible with these Tamron F lenses ? I see that the G adapter has a dedicated aperture ring. Thanks!

If you do not have an aperture ring, physically, and is a F mount for Nikon, then yes.

If you think about it, the adapter without any electronic or physical control does not have an ability to change anything - right?  So you'll need an adapter with aperture ring to change the lens setting.

I use Commlite with an aperture ring and works just fine with my Nikkors.  I don't have any other vendor lenses but since its all F mount, it has to work the same.

Thanks mkg3. I ordered the Fotodiox Pro Lens Mount Adapter. It seems to have pretty good reviews on amazon. Lets see how it goes.

    • Sorry, had to catch your attention somehow.  🙂 I've loved Zeiss lenses for a couple decades--have been a fotog since only 2000--and have had many different versions.. Bought an a7R V weeks ago, attached the Batis 18/2.8, added an 85/2.8 plus a Sony 24-70/2.8 GM II and a Tamrom 50-300 4.5-6.3, and thought I was ready.. But then ordered Batises in 25/2 and 40/2 (arriving today), and then ordered a 135/2.8 to arrive ...tomorrow, Thursday?  (How can B&H/FedEx do that--Wed. morn. to Thurs. afternoon--for the few-dollars addon B&H gets for NEXT-day shipping?)  Total gear weight without the Tamron will be just 6.8 pounds/3.7kg and 8.4 pounds/3.8kg. with it.. All this (and other required stuff) fits in my ThinkTank Airport Roller, so I won't have to carry it, which I cannot physically do. Off to two and two-half days in the Palouse Monday the 2nd; we'll see how all those Bs hold up.
    • Hello, Would it be possible in a future firmware update for DSLRs to change the order of White Balance options in the menu?   It would be much more practical if the Kelvin (K) setting was listed first, followed by Auto, and then the rest of the predefined options.   When filming, it would allow for a quicker switch from Auto to Kelvin mode and then easily adjust the exact white balance using the DIAL wheel – and quickly return to Auto if needed.   Currently, we need to scroll through several predefined white balance presets to switch between Auto and a custom Kelvin setting, which can be impractical during a shoot.
