Weatherproofing a7riv + grip combo?

Small amount of space/light visible between a7riv and Sony grip. Light rain, tripod low to the water's edge as waves crash, etc would be nice to reduce chance of water entry. Why is there no weather seal on the grip to close this space? Heat dissipation? Anyone found a way to close that up that doesn't cause problems?

I don't use the grip, but a strip of gaffer tape should seal the gap.

These work well.  Keep the front glass dry or totally wet (underwater) or you will see water drops.

Thanks. Very interesting and I've never seen this before. All my lenses are larger than 65mm in diameter so doesn't seem it will work for my particular application. Wish there was also just a very, narrow, durable adhesive type foam I could just tape around the outer edge of the grip where it makes contact with bottom of the body. Can't find anything quite like that.
