Have just got my new Sony A7 III. I'm having trouble with too much echo/reverb when using external microphone. When recording in an environment where there should be no echo at all (e.g in a forest with snow) it sounds that it was recorded inside an empty room. I use a Røde VideoMic Pro when recording. I also tried other mic's with the same result. When recording with the same mic's on my smartphone, the sound is normal. Is this normal to A7 III? Anyone else with similar experience? Example 1 https://youtu.be/Cj1RuHhTFbM (listen when closing car doors) Example 2 https://youtu.be/2UENFIC47xU Regards Sigmund M.

Hi I'm looking for advice on the best audio options for the Sony a7s ii. I film mainly documentary style footage and more corporate interview style films. At the moment I am either thinking of getting: 1. Sennheiser radio mics, Zoom h4n and then a Rode top mic for natural sound. I've use Sennhesier and the Zoom before and it works well but it's more of a hassle to record it all separately and sync. OR 2. The Sony K2M kit, which comes with a top mic. This seems like a more hassle free option as I can put it on top of my camera, but I don't know how good the quality is recording into the camera. (Or whether it's any better than the Rode top mic which is way cheaper!) Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or any other suggestions for options I should look into? Thanks

On the A7III - Is there any way to get the camera to not make a "beep / boop" sound when you start or stop video recording? It's seems ridiculous to have a "silent shutter" mode for stills when the video record function wants to start a rave... alerting any wildlife you're recording to your presence. Also, am I just daft, or is there no way to get the rear screen to only activate when you touch the shutter release (for example)? Seems like an unnecessary waste of battery power to have it on the whole time. I know you can cycle the "Disp" function to get it to go off / on, but it's a bit of a faff. Thanks in advance.
