  2. Mostly for travel purposes (I sometimes travel by motorcycle), a general zoom, reasonably priced would be great. At the moment only the Sony-Zeiss FE 24-70 F4 is available. Rumors say a new lens is about to be released with a bigger aperture. Sounds great but if one looks at the corresponding A-mount lens it'll likely be (way) above the 2 000 EUR barrier. Wondering if anyone has tried the SIGMA or TAMRON 24-70 F2.8 together with an adapter. I actually have a Metabones to use my old (film-era) Canon/Sigma lenses, so I could use it and purchase the TAMRON 24-70 2.8 which gets good reviews (mounted on Canon...). How would it perform on Sony A7II? Anyone?
  3. Hey Everyone, so im having a problem with my Sony a7II and trying to figure out what is happening. it seems like it could be a light leak but when i shoot it in auto the light streak disappears. i notice this happens when i am shooting manual in bright daylight. iv tried to cover the E-mount with tape but it still appears. here is the link to sample photos. https://imgur.com/tMEpf0s https://imgur.com/VbHiofThttps://imgur.com/0Bf47TZ any help would be awesome. thank you!
  4. I upgraded my A7 Mark II yesterday to firmware 2.0. Tested with Sony 85mm Batis and it worked perfectly. Uncompressed RAW no problem downloading to Lightroom 6. I also updated the firmware for the Metabones IV to version 0.46. Mounted Sigma 24mm f1.4 Art to Metabones IV smart adapter. Attempted to use autofocus in many circumstances: inside and outside, high contrast and low contrast, AF-C and AF-S. I could not achieve autofocus under any circumstances. I switched to manual focus and achieved satisfactory images. Then I switched lenses to a Canon 70-200 f4 L IS lens. Autofocus was perfect and very fast. In fact autofocus was as fast with the Metabones IV/Canon setup as native Sony lenses. I have already notified Metabones of this issue. So for the time being, no autofocus with Sigma Art just manual. Hopefully they can fix this with a future Metabones firmware update.
  5. Hi, I am hobby photographer, a regular reader of the forum and I am always amazed by all the beautiful photos uploaded here. This time I want to give it a try myself. The below two pictures were taken during sunrise from the Dragon's Back hiking trail on Hong Kong island. By coincidence I was able to capture the morning arrival of the cruise ship "Voyagers of the Seas". I used my Sony A7II with the SEL 70-200 F/4 G lens attached. If you are interested in my pictures (and for full resolution versions of the below photos), you are welcome to have a look at my Flickr profile. https://www.flickr.com/photos/joachimwuhrer/ Thanks a lot and have a great day! Joachim

  7. After spending hours looking for a similar case on the web, I was really close to contact the after sale service. Desperatly, I made a last search on this forum and found this post : http://www.sonyalphaforum.com/topic/594-firmware-update-121-for-a7m2rs6000/ It was the key to my problem. So I decided to share it with you, because there is not a word about this on internet. Basically, I was trying to update my SEL2870 from 0.01 to 0.02 with a Sony A7II 1.20 firmware. I did follow precisely the instruction and try it on Windows and Mac (no memory card, battery full, ext previously install on OSX 10.10). No matter what I was trying, the update process never start on my sony A7II (ILCE-7M2 for keywords). The update process always get stuck on " Follow computer instructions " (" Suivre les instructions sur l'ordinateur ", french keywords, sorry for my english). Until I found out that I should previously install the A7II firmware update 1.21 (only available on sony japan website since april ?!). Installing this update was the solution to get the lens update working as we could guess in the following google translation : "In the body software ver1.20, software updates of the lens body I was fixed symptoms that do not start." Yes, it's written 1.20 by sony instead of 1.20, it should be a typo. Now you know what to do. Of course, I'm not responsible for any trouble during the update, and you should carefully follow the instruction otherwise it's the best way to brick your loving camera. And many thanks to @kasimodem for keeping up updated of this firmware update and for including a google translation of the changelog.
