  1. I have just received my Sony a6300 in the post. I have swapped over from a Canon 700d so I have all canon lens'. I decided to buy a commlite EF to NEX(E) adapter to fit all of my current lens' on the Sony a6300. First I tried my Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens' which refuses to focus, on startup the focus motor runs from macro all the way to infinity then refuses to focus at all on half shutter. I have changed between phase detection and contrast detection, then between wide and center focus zones, still nothing. Some of the focus modes are even grayed out like DMF and Auto because the lens is not compatible however I have seen this lens working with the same adapter with other Sony a6300 cameras. I have also updated the firmware which made 0 difference. Next I tried my Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM which refused to focus using phase detection and kept jumping about, but worked much like the Canon 700d in live view when using contrast detection. It focused very slowly but worked nonetheless. The same was true with the Canon 18-55mm STM IS kit lens. I did purchase this adapter through Amazon warehouse deals but there was no mention of focus issues only minor cosmetic defects, but the adapter was flawless when I received it. I cannot see this being an issue as it allows the aperture to be changed and it focuses on some lens' but I just cannot understand why it will not work on the Sigma lens when I have seen it working perfectly on other Sony a6300 with the same adapter. Am I doing anything wrong? Is there anything to help this or am I just stuck to manual focus with this adapter?
  2. Mostly for travel purposes (I sometimes travel by motorcycle), a general zoom, reasonably priced would be great. At the moment only the Sony-Zeiss FE 24-70 F4 is available. Rumors say a new lens is about to be released with a bigger aperture. Sounds great but if one looks at the corresponding A-mount lens it'll likely be (way) above the 2 000 EUR barrier. Wondering if anyone has tried the SIGMA or TAMRON 24-70 F2.8 together with an adapter. I actually have a Metabones to use my old (film-era) Canon/Sigma lenses, so I could use it and purchase the TAMRON 24-70 2.8 which gets good reviews (mounted on Canon...). How would it perform on Sony A7II? Anyone?
  3. I am planning on selling my Canon 6D II and getting an A7III in the coming months and wanted some advice. I was considering getting the Metabones V but I rather use the native lenses (I will probably add the new Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 once released and if it is good) so I'm thinking the MC-11 may be the better option. The reason for this is, the only lenses I plan to adapt is the 16-35 f/4L and 100L which both are used for static objects and don't require fast AF (long exposures, landscapes and still life) and would rather save money being that Metabones is twice the cost. I don't really shoot any fast paced action shots, just mostly landscapes, still life and the odd portrait. Does this plan seem logical and like a good idea?
  4. Hi! Maybe you can find interesting an autofocus test I've done with Commlite and Fotodiox Pro adapters and Eos lens on the A7RII. Finally I can say that the Fotodiox works good only with a restrict number of lenses.. but (when it works) it works great! I've tried it with: Canon 50 f1,4 - C 100 f2 - C 24-70 f2,8L - C 50 f2,5 macro - C 90 f2,8 T/S (manual) - Sigma 35 f1,4 Art.. It works bad with all the lenses except for the 24-70 f2,8L. For "bad" i mean not only for the autofocus function but also for the aperture controls and the stability of the Camera. With the Canon 24-70 f2,8L, instead, it is impressive!... it is as fast as working on Eos body (only with some rare fails), and very reliable. Also it doesn't work with the A6000. The Commlite is like a workhorse.. it works good with all the lenses and with the A6000; but it is not so fast like the Fotodiox and not so accurate. Here you can find the video tests: https://vimeo.com/135973751 (Fotodiox and Canon 24-70 f2,8L) https://vimeo.com/135978162 (Fotodiox and Sigma 35 1,4 Art) https://vimeo.com/135981179 (Commlite and both Canon 24-70 f2,8L and Sigma 35 1,4 Art) And here the Review (italian language): http://pdrphotoblog.com/2015/08/11/sony-a7rii-adattatori-autofocus-commlite-e-fotodiox-in-prova/ Hi and have fun with the A7RII!
  5. Got bunch of Minolta from friends (100mm 2.8macro, 50mm 1.7, 100-300, oh, the beercan, too. They all have AF. I am getting an a7rii this christmas. Will the LAEA3 work for these lenses? It is very confusing what adapters work with what lens... Read many conflicting stuff on the web. Thanks a bunch.
