  1. Hi, here is a shot I made of a lovely lady. A6500 Canon 85mm 1.2 @f1.4 (If memory serves) Metabones Speedbooster CameTv Boltzen 55w lights (x2) Diy Hand-painted Backdrop Thanks for looking!
  2. I have a one year old Sony a7r with an Ommlite Canon-to-Sony adaptor. I am considering buying a Sony a7r II with Metabones adaptor. I have read that many Canon lenses work in auto-focus mode with this combination (a7r II and Metabones), plus exif, etc.. Is this your experience? For which of these lenses does it work? Canon 70-200 f/2.8L EF USM Canon 17-40 f/4L USM Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II Lens (plastic fantastic) Rokinon 8mm T/3.8 Fisheye Cine Lens for Canon
  3. on January 7th I wrote this mail to Metabones. I waited till today to give them a chance for comments. No answer jet! Do you noticed similar problems?? here are the images, that I sent to Metabones: the Zeiss Otus 1.4/85mm the Zeiss Makro Planar 2/100mm the Canon 17mm TS-E (tilt/shift) and this is the look of the mount on the adapter, full of brass (I did not send this image to Metabones) dierk
  4. Mostly for travel purposes (I sometimes travel by motorcycle), a general zoom, reasonably priced would be great. At the moment only the Sony-Zeiss FE 24-70 F4 is available. Rumors say a new lens is about to be released with a bigger aperture. Sounds great but if one looks at the corresponding A-mount lens it'll likely be (way) above the 2 000 EUR barrier. Wondering if anyone has tried the SIGMA or TAMRON 24-70 F2.8 together with an adapter. I actually have a Metabones to use my old (film-era) Canon/Sigma lenses, so I could use it and purchase the TAMRON 24-70 2.8 which gets good reviews (mounted on Canon...). How would it perform on Sony A7II? Anyone?
  5. The new Techart adapter (M mount to E-mount) enables AF with Leitz lenses that do not have a built in focusing motor. The motor is in the adapter. As present adapters for e.g. Canon lenses do not allow AF with ALL lenses but only with a few newer ones, it may be a good idea to have the motor in the adapter instead of relying on the motor in the lens. Such an adapter would be a rather complex affair as the diaphragm would still have to be set by the camera body through the electrical contacts on the camera body and lens. But the system would not have to rely on a possibly not working focusing motor in the lens as that would be done by the adapter. Hopefully Techart, Metabones or whoever will take up this idea and construct an adapter which allows AF with all Canon/Nikon etc. lenses.
  6. I have now tried two copies of Metabones' Canon FD-Sony E Adapter (Part# MB_FD-E-BM1) on my Sony cameras. This adapter fits comfortably on the Sony a6000 body, however on the A7Rii it does not properly fit and to my horror it appeared to scratch the front surface of the lens mount. I have several other Metabones adapters for Sony E (Nikon F, C/Y) that do not have this issue, and generally I find the quality of the Metabones adapters to be better than competing brands - certainly better than the lower end brands, but also better than the Novaflex adapters that cost ~2x as much. This issue brings up two questions: I wonder if the tolerance on the old Sony E mount is looser than on the updated mk ii lineup (A7II, A7RII, A7SII, a6300). I know that Sony improved the rigidity of the mount in the update, I wonder if anyone else has noticed a commensurate tightening of tolerances (meaning other old adapters may also now fall out of spec). Has anyone else had issues with the Metabones Canon FD adapter on the mk ii full frame E-mount bodies? As many FD lenses are of low quality I would imagine that these adapters get mostly purchased for the less expensive bodies, but as there are some excellent FD mount lenses available I am hoping that somebody else has tried one of these on an A7Rii. The issue I experienced was unacceptable and I would caution other users to try Metabones adapters in-store before trying to use them on their own kit. Regards, FDP
  7. My recently bought A7sii has worked fine up until recently when it stopped allowing me to control aperture. Bottom the screen now just reads f- I use a commlite with Canon range lenses. Since then, I have tested with another new commlite adaptor and still doesn't work. But did work when testing with metabones and native Sony lens This leads me to be very confused! Any ideas??
  8. After I upgraded to A7RII+Metabones IV (from from A7R+Metabones III), I noticed that the Infinity Mark on my Zeiss ZE lens (Distagon 15) is no longer working as intended. The lens still has infinity focus, but it is no longer right on the mark. I have to zoom in and micro adjust the focus in order to achieve infinity. Does anyone experienced similar problem with A7RII+Metabones IV?
  9. Hi all, Just received my A7RII and newest version of the MB IV T from BH the other day. All of my Canon EF lenses were working as expected until late last night. All of a sudden, every EF lens I had caused the camera body to gray out the Focus Mode setting and was listed as "Manual Focus". Every time I try to change anything with the focus mode, it now tells me that it is "Invalid with this lens." I have made sure that all of the lenses are switched to AF, firmware on the MB is 45, body firmware is 2.00, detached body from adapter and adapter from lens and reattached. Nothing has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Looking to others whom have the A7rII and the Metabones iv for Canon lens for some dialogue on getting the most out of the Canon lens on the A7rII. I'm having some success in the area of image quality with manual focus. Predominately shooting at iso 100 through to 400. Lens brought over from Canon is the newer 70-200 f 2.8 II and a 25 Tilt and Shift. Both of these are beautiful glass and would like to use them predominately in landscape, city scape and with the 70-200 some portraiture. Focusing is definitely not quick as Sony's own (which I have the 35 1.4, 50 1.8 and the 70-200 f4). Would like to hear others experience with the above adapter. Thank you Jim
