Recommendation for Leica M adaptor to Sony E mount

Hello friends.  Anyone with some experience using Leica M to Sony E mount adaptors?  I would like to get some suggestions as far as the best in quality and longevity in using my Leica M mount lens onto my Sony A7R II.

If you want absolutely the best you should probably go for either:

 

- the Voigtlander VM-E close focus adapter

 

- the Novoflex (no close focus capabilities, though)

 

The Novoflex is pretty expensive at well over 100€, the Voigtlander is bloody expensive at over 250€, but these are the only two adapters that reportedly will not suffer from light leaks in extreme conditions, like when using an ND1000 filter in full daylight with the summer sun shining directly on top of the adapter.

 

If you don't fancy spending all that money for an empty metal tube or you don't shoot in said lighting conditions I already discussed a nice and cheap alternative here on the forum:

These cost merely 10€ but are actually pretty well made, and on the A7r (1st version) I haven't found any problem.

 

If I were you I would try the cheaper option first, and only if this shouldn't work go for the more expensive solution.

 

On a side note, I also have a cheap adapter no-brand (tons of them on ebay, all the same) with close focus capabilities (it costed me only 30€) that is also pretty good when used with light lenses (the screws on it tend to become a bit loose if used with big fat lenses, i.e., try not to use it with a 90/2, but is perfectly fine with a 90/2.8)

Thank you so much.  I went ahead and ordered the VM-E.  I purchased my very first Leica product ever, the 50mm lux ASPH.  This will be my one trick pony - do it all camera + lens.  Now I'm real broke to purchase anything else.  Thanks again.

Limiting your hardware to a solitary

"One-Trick-Pony" may possibly be

the greatest of creative disciplines.

 

Acoarst, this can be done with a

Holga, a phone-cam, an RX100M,

etc etc ... but hey, ain't no harm in

making damnt sure that the pony

remains a One-Trick by spending

your entire budget on that pony,

thus protecting you against GAS.

Plus you get a real hot rod pony !

 

Myself I'm kinda semi-one-trick in

my discipline. Altho I'll generally

carry only a body with one old MF

prime lens, that lens varies day

by day or week by week, usually

a 24, 28, or 35mm.

I'll purchased the metabones Leica M to Sony E yesterday. Looks good until now. But it takes some force to adapt lens and also body.
