I have purchased the a7rm3 with the new 24-105 F:4 OSS lens, and downloaded the manual to get a heads up for when the camera arrives.  I an switching from Nikon to Sony.  The manual is a little confusing about using an OSS lens and ISS.  Are they both on at the same time?  If not, which one is active? Can you select one or the other?

Thanks, Dennis

I have an a7S2 body which has IBIS and I just purchased and received the FE100-400 GM lens.  I posted on some difficulties I am having with stabilization with this combo in the Full Frame lenses forum.  One lesser issue is that mounting the OSS lens on the IBIS body prevents use of IBIS even if the lens OSS is switched off.  You can view my other post for the other problems I am experiencing.  I am trying to determine if my lens is defective.

In response to my other post about using ISS when on a tripod "holmes4" indicated that when an OSS lens is used, IBIS provides the stabilization functions that OSS cannot.  He is the second person that has told me that OSS and IBIS work together when stabilization is turned on.  I have not had any confirmation of this from Sony though.

Why do you cross-post information which is plain wrong?   (I added a link to your other post to at least keep those two together somehow).

I'm pretty sure the manual for the A7ii explained that the

camera and lens work together, but I don't see it in the

manual for the A7Riii.

Despite all the conflicts and screw-ups Sony is known

for, they did get this one right. I always leave them both

enabled all the time and it's like magic. It IS magic :-)

Sorry to have offended.  There are two related forums.  Since my issues dealt with my new 100-400 lens, I posted in the lens forum.  I subsequently saw this post in the camera forum.  As it was relevant to my lens issue, I replied.  I don't see what is plain wrong with that but will cease replying to the posts of others.

Never mind, it was not taken as an offense. Just a rant from my side about clutter which I perceive as unnecessary. Apologies from my side, too.

And, like you said, using the A7S2, you didn't experience any issues with previous lenses and adapters, only with the SEL100400GM. So that made me think that it's a lens issue, not a body one.
