sony a77ii focus mode dial on body?

i just purchased a sony a77ii with 16-50mm f2.8 kit lens. i'm trying to find more information on the focus mode dial on the body. in what situations do you use MF, C, A, S? thanks in advance.

I use C when shooting sports and want continuous focusing.

This is straight forward. C (continuous) is used for moving subjects where you need the camera to continually adjust the focus. S (single) would be for the opposite, ie. portraits, landscapes, and anything stagnant. MF (manual focus) is self explanatory.  A (Auto) in my experience should never be used.  (The camera sometimes does not make the right choice and this can be very frustrating) Hope this helps. .
