As new to this Forum, I recently purchased the A7R2 with the 24-70 mm lens and the Ziess 35mm manual focus lens. I have had the sony GPS for some time and was wondering if it would work with the A7R2, The GPS has sat on the shelf for many months but I thought I might start using it.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your link points to a small sony camera with built in GPS.

I presume you mean a stand alone GPS.

In the past - and it is a couple of years for me, the stand alone GPS units Sony sold adjusted jpegs not raw files.

There is an app you can use on a smart phone called Geotag photos that will add GPS data to the exif after download. I have found it to work very well. You don't need to be signed into a wireless network for the GPS function to work. I used it in Europe where I didn't have cellular connectivity and in US spots laking cellular service. Perhaps slightly less accurate, but good enough for my purposes. It doesn't use an awful lot of battery. The one caveat is that you need to be sure phone and camera are set to the same time as it uses time to synch photos. It is also necessary to upload the GPS data from the phone to the cloud (a service provided by the vendor) The actual tagging is done on the laptop/desktop.

It is good enough that I no longer miss having GPS in my Camera.

The GPS unit I have is actually a Sony device model GPS-CS3 which I got a few years back but thought I would give it ago. Of course I lost the CD that came with it and have been trying to locate software for it. To date I went south on a job and used it so it will be interesting to see if I can marry the JPG's with the GPS. I will let you know how it goes.. otherwise it might have to go to the GPS in the sky and I will go with Geotag if they have it for Iphone 6..

Thanks for your replies..
