The thing is, most of the lenses that have the "Colors that POP, Sharp, Excellent and accurate AF" you seek are the more expensive 1.4 and 1.8. The cheaper smaller 2.8's are usually less sharp and poorly built. Why does it matter if the lens is 1.4 or 2.8? Most lenses aren't at their best wide open. A fast lens allows you to stop down to get the best results and still have a decent aperture set.

I have the venerated Minolta AF 85/1.4 that was released in '87. Excellent lens, still commands $300 on eBay. It's not a focal length I use much so it sets, but it's a great lens.
