Digital View Finder Level

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

First of all I'm sorry for what is probably an idiot question! A little background....

I am only recently new to the world of DSLR cameras. I am a regular (once a year) visitor to Yosemite and have found myself getting bored with my iphone and sony(cheap) compact. I actually stopped taking pictures last time I was there as they were pretty much the same as the last time and the time before that. I felt I needed an upgrade! I did my research and I decided I needed a DSLR(apparently). I didn't want to invest too much as I was just finding my feet. There were alot of manufacturers and models and due to cost/timing/ebay bought myself an Alpha 300.

Now the problem(I think)! When I use the digital view the image seems to be out ie. The taken image is about 15-20% higher in level. If I was taking a close up of someones face their chinwould be missing!

Does anyone have any ideas about what is happening?

Thanks in advance. And remember I'm a novice....

Toad.

The Sony A300 is a VERY old model which hasn't been produced or sold in 7+ years. I suspect (as with many SLRs) that this is known in the USA by another model name. (couldn't find anything online)

The A300 didn't have a digital view finder. Sony didn't start offering those until December 2011.

Can you please show an example of what you're referring to in terms of cropping the photos.

If you look this up online yes, all APSC SLRs have a crop factor vs a full frame SLR like the A99. But since you haven't used a full frame SLR before this probably isn't what you're referring to.
