I apologize if this question has indeed been asked/answered.  I did a search, but didn't find any relevant results.

I recently migrated to the Sony platform (A7RII) from Nikon (D810).  I'm finding that the Sony viewfinder (eye cup) is not as glasses-friendly as the D810.  I can see, but I really have to move around to see the edges of the viewfinder -- more so than I did on the Nikon.  I am sure that, to some degree, this is just something I am going to have live with -- I'll probably eventually just adapt.  However...

Are there any other eye cups that may allow me to see more of the viewfinder with a little less moving around?  I find that I can easily use the LCD indoors, but not so much outdoors on sunny days.

Any shooting or eye cup suggestions or tips from other eye-glasses-wearing shooters?

The EVF has diopter adjustment, so you can probably adjust that to get a perfect vision through the EVF without wearing glasses. That was the case for me.

Thanks for the tip(s).  I had stumbled on that Hoodman Hoodeye -- just ordered one.  We'll see how that works out.

Sadly, I need my glasses more for reading.  So, I could easily adjust the diopter and just shoot without glasses, but then I'd have to put them back on if I wanted to review the image on screen (rather than reviewing the image in the viewfinder).  Not to mention, I wouldn't be able to see my phone or watch!  :) Maybe it is time to consider Lasik.  :)

You will soon find that the image in the EVF is preferable to the rear screen .... small tip      ;)

Just curious... I much prefer using the EVF for shooting.  Are you implying that you also use it for image review (prefer it over using the rear LCD for image review)?  If that is the case, then I may spend a bit of time trying that out while I wait for the Hoodman.

The EVF is higher resolution and I always review images using EVF. Display is only useful when working on a tripod or shooting awkward angles, otherwise mostly all I see is my own reflection ....

I too wear glasses and purchased the Hoodman.  I have found I prefer the EVF for photo review.  The LCD seems too dirty to really see detail.  And the Hoodman shields the EVF from light leak so the picture is fantastic.  I also use it with the magnification function during both composition of a photo and photo review.  I programed the trash button for focus magnification with non-Sony lenses.  It works great.

Thank you for the feedback, Steve.  Looking forward to trying out the Hoodman.

This is what you need! One eye for the viewfinder and one eye for the screen ;):P

Seriously though i totally understand what you are saying.

I've gotten to the point where i just about do all previews and menu selections through the viewfinder now because i don't want to bother with putting on and taking off my reading glasses.

Thanks, OldNoob.

I have indeed been attempting to work exclusively with the viewfinder.  I have also decided that I'm done with reading glasses and I'm now looking into Lasik.
