New 24-70mm GM lens

The on "sonyalpharumors" described new FE-Zoom "24-70mm GM" could be very interesting if it should better match the E-mount cameras in size and weight.

What does that mean symbol "GM" of course I do not know well. There would for me does not make sense if SONY would differ from the previous nomenclature.

"G" stood for previously lenses of  the "Gold-series" in continuation of a tradition of MINOLTA. The phantastic AF 3,5 / 17-35 mm or the legendary AF 2.8 / 200 mm were G lenses!

"M" could stand simply for "Macro".

Should there be a new Zoom out of the G-series with macro function?

Since it was translated from Russian, it could be anything.  The Russian listing could merely be a placeholder and maybe no such lens is forthcoming.  It seems unlikely Sony will release compact zooms since everybody seems to be clamboring for fast zooms.

"Mirrorless"? But then all the other FE lenses are meant for their mirrorless cameras..... Perhaps "Mike" after the bloke who invented it.
