Rokinon 12mm F2.8 for Sony E Mount not working

Hi,

 

I just got the Rokinon 12mm F2.8, but it wont work on my A7RII, it says it cant find any lens, and that I need to change settings to allow shooting whit no lens.

Is my Rokinon broken or don't they have any chip to communicate whit the camera on lens aperture settings?

no chip - you need to go into the menu and set the option to ”release shutter without lens attached”

OK thanks! Even my Voightlander for Canon has a chip that works whit the Sony. So the Rokinon will only work in "M" manual mode, where I have to set all setting my self to the same aperture as I set on the lens?

After enabling RELEASE WITHOUT LENS, set your camera to A (aperture) mode, or M (manual) mode. In A mode the camera will select shutter speeds to match whatever aperture you have set on the lens. In M mode you can select the shutter speed that works best for the situation.

It works also in S mode

 

choose the shutter speed you wish and the camera controls the ISO if iso auto is enable 

 

same with P mode but logically no control over the aperture
