a7riiiA File size over 80mb?

I have owned and operated a a7riii for years and I am used to seeing around 42mb / still from this camera. My company recently bought an a7riiiA model, which is capturing stills at over 80mb. The difference between the two are the body model, but all of the settings (yes, including both are writing uncompressed ARW files) are the same. Is this something new to the new model? Why is the write size so humongous?

You are mistaken about the file format. An A7RIII will only give you ~42MB RAW files when shooting (lossy) compressed RAW. ~80MB files are uncompressed RAW (~42million samples at 2 bytes each - that's got to be over 80MB).

I think you've been running the A7RIII in compressed RAW all the time.

That's simply impossible. A Sony uncompressed RAW contains two bytes for every sample from the sensor (which is slightly more than the number of output pixels) - that's true for all uncompressed RAW files.

I suppose it's conceivable, albeit highly unlikely that you have the old camera in APS-C mode (highly unlikely because you'd have noticed that).
