Hi

I have tried a few times now, to update the firmware on my A7R IV. I have followed the exact steps that Sony has suggested.

I downloaded the System Software Installer (For Windows) and plugged the USB in, which the Laptop recognises.

I then clicked next on the System updater and nothing happens. I keep getting the message, no device found.

Any ideas to resolve this would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Wes

The only thing I can think of is the USB cable used to connect the camera and computer. Some USB cables are made to only be used for charging. They lack the wires connecting the other pins on the plugs and hence no data transfer and thus the message "Could not find the camera ...".

A similar possibility is that the USB cable is defective with one or more connections between the plugs at each end broken.

Try another USB cable that is known to be good for data transfer. Please let us know if this solved the problem.
