Please don’t lecture me. I’ve been using Sony digital cameras since the first a71, and have been updating every major digital brand (Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm, Canon, OM, Panasonic) since the mid-nineties. I’ve been a photographer since before you were born, and have read the manuals of each camera I’ve owned cover to cover. I actually tried NOT deleting the hidden folders days ago, and only actually deleted them once, in desperation. I have no idea why my camera finally decided to update, and suspect Sony may have done something behind the scenes. Moreover you don’t even own my A1II, so have not been through the frustrations of Sony’s VERY cursory and inadequate instructions. Not too many folks own this camera, and fewer still are even aware of the version 3.00 update, which was released on 7-29-2025. I suspect the directions were translated from the Japanese by AI and never reviewed. In any case, let me volunteer here and now to help any A1II owners through the update process, if they need help. -
If you had said in the first place that you were deleting files from a card freshly formatted in your camera, I could have told you straight away what the problem was! Lesson: when asking for help or advice, make sure you give all the information... -
Great that you figured it out. I guess there was some misunderstanding between us, probably because English isn‘t my native language.
