A7III Auto Focus video vs Smartphone (better)

Hello,

I'm trying to understand the camera, i'm trying to film my self with the A7III Ver. 3.10, lens set on auto focus

When I take the camera, return it, so we see my face, it doesn't automatically focus.

When I take my smartphone it work perfectly

 

When I take the a7III and I press the "click/photo/shutter/main" Button to focus on my face it will work, then I take the camera to film something else theres not auto focus

When I take my phone everything I want get automatically on focus

 

I try different mode of Auto Focus, AF-S, AF-A, AF-C, DMF nothing work
What am I missing??

The feature only work if Movie is selected
