Hello guys i`m looking for someone with decent optical knowledge who could clarify some things..

i recently bought sony 70-200 f2.8 GM to go with my A7R3 and i previously own 24-70 f2.8 GM and sigma 14-24 f2.8

i`m a pilot and most shooting i do is from the airplane cockpit which involves shooting thru some thick glass (2-3cm). Up until i got the 70-200 i never had any problems, both 24-70 and wide 14-24, and even my older canon setup with 70-200 f4.0, they all focused perfectly, and images were properly sharp, but when i tried my new 70-200 GM i just could not achive focus at all..

tried manual and auto, stabilization on and off, nothing works.. even when you look with 10x magnification in manual focus, the lens does not focus. as you turn the focus you can see it approaching proper focus but never gets there, it`s always a bit off making the images unusable. and it seems to be more pronounced at 200mm and also dependant on the angle of the lens vs the glass.. some angles gave more distortion. i tried the lens at home thru double glass balcony door (4 pieces of glass) and focus was fine

so why does every other lens i own or had before work perfectly with no problems focusing thru same glass that new 70-200 GM cant do?

and no.. it`s not motion blur from the aircraft speed or slow shutter and it`s not shaky camera.

Any help would be welcome
