Today, during a photo session with my a6300 I have verified that when I am in C-AF mode and close diaphragm below f11 (f13 onwards), when trying to focus, the image oscillates for a few seconds without getting focused until after that lapse. The curious thing is that the focus box turns green instantly, but the image is focused and unfocused for several seconds. I think that from f13 inclusive, phase detection mode is disabled and only CDAF mode remains. I do not know if this implies that at openings lower than f11 continuous focus mode can not be used. I have not seen any article about it. This behavior, I have tested with lenses 16-50 and 50 1.8. Can you check if the same thing happens to you?

When closing down beyond a minimum aperture, the camera indeed switches to contrast AF. Have a look at this thread. Not about the a6300 but the answer to your question is similar.

Thanks for your answer. It is true that in case of disabling live view, the camera focuses faster with small apertures, but the behavior that I mentioned is repeated. In AF-C, the image fluctuates for 3 or 4 seconds, focusing and softly defocusing until it stops, however, the focus frame turns green from the beginning.
