  1. Hello everyone. My first post here. I have an A7, pre-ordered from Sony Australia as soon as I read about it. It was the first time I have ever done that! Still very happy with it. I also have an A6000 to compliment it. I have a number of legacy lenses and a few native lenses. I enjoy many aspects of photography including landscapes, airshows, family portraits and so on. I enjoy the technology itself, to a certain extent, and using legacy lenses from time to time. I enjoy learning and experimenting. I look forward to participating in the forum. Cheers Snowy ( also known as Barry )
  2. Hello people of the Sony Alpha Forum I recently added some pictures of mine to the weekly SAR topics. This so I can get some improving feedback due to the fact that I'm not a professional photographer and never done any course. The first camera I used was a Sony A300 with kitlens and was about 9 years ago. After several months and due to the fact that I work at Brussels Airport, I wanted to take pictures of approaching and taking off aircraft. So I decided to buy a midrange zoom 18-250 Sony lens. After this of about a year I started to get bored with just taking aircrafts. I enjoyed my time of walking and taking pictures of my dog, so I decided to get a level higher and purchased a new body: SLT A65 and 70-400mm. After several years of self study and enjoying my time of taking pictures I know want something more. More feedback of other persons, then my family. Now I am proud to be a owner of a Full Frame Sony A99. This I bought second hand, because I found that the prices for the A7 series are too high for just amateurs. Below you will find a link to my Flickr-account. If there are people of the forum, with whom I don't have a friend status, please I invite me. I look forward to see a lot of interesting pictures to get some inspiration and to enjoy watching beautiful pictures. Thank you. Christiaen Mous. https://www.flickr.com/photos/115197749@N03/

  4. Hi everybody, I'm Luca, from Switzerland. I write this post basically to introduce myself and to tell my short story with Sony Alpha. In 2011 I bought my first advanced camera (an Rx100II), it was a great school for me, starting from automatic and getting full manual+RAW after some times. Now, after about 70k shoots with the RX100 I decided to make the "next step", as I was starting feeling limited by the possibility of that camera, although I will always love it for the light weight and small size. From Dec2014 I started be interested in the A7 serie. When A7RII was annunced I was stunned! In Jul2015 I went to B&H in NYC, A7RII was not yet in stock but preorder were already available. I was leaving for the Yukon, such an amazing place for a wilderness lover as I am. I tried in my hand both the A7RmkI and the A7II. I was so surprised about how big is the new A7 body! Big and heavy! Something I can't deal with...I bring my camera everywhere, expecially during my alpinism and hiking excursions, so weight is very important for me. At the end of the game, I bought the A7R mk1 with the Zeiss 2.8/35 and the G 2.8/90, not for the pricepoint or other reason, but for only one reason: the size/weight. In this way I have a body+lens around 600g that I can bring everywhere. I'm still warming up with the camera (about 3k shots), but I'm very satisfied about everything. The camera is super light for a FF, and with the Zeiss 2.8 I can bring it about everywhere. The quality is superb, expecially with good light. More than this, I love so much the feeling that it gives to me, the body is fantastic, and the shutter noise is so crazy. I would really like to try for one or 2 days the A7RII, to understand better what I'm loosing using the "old" version. Sometimes I get annoyed not having the steadyshoot, but is something that I can deal with. I think the bigger point is the sensor, the new one is much better, but, comparing the 36mpx FF with the old 20mpx 1'' of the RX100....I already made a big step These few thoughts to introduce myself and my gear, hope to find here a good community to speak about our cameras, giving suggestions about the material and about our photos. I will post some pictures of my travel in Yukon in about 2 weeks in the photo session, below a sneak peak. Nice to meet you everybody!
  5. Hi everybody My name is Sebastian, I'm from Germany and an amateur, but enthusiastic photographer. It all began in the 80's - when I was very young - I started with a Minolta X-700 film camera and an old Sigma SR 70-210mm manual lens. Well, I didn't shoot much at that time of my life... film development was very expensive for a young boy at the age of 10 to 12 years. I returned to photography in 2005 when I went to a rock festival and wanted to catch some memories. I bought a pocket cam (Canon Digital IXUS 30) and thus I recovered my love with photography. Unfortunately... as a student you still don't have much money to buy some good equipment. But: not knowing anything about photography this was a good start over all. In 2007 I bought my first DSLR: Canon EOS 400D (in the US its name is "Rebel" I guess). I've had two lenses: the kit shit (sorry) and a Tamron 70-300mm - not the SP version, not stabilized etc. Not a bad lens at all. I've had this combo for 6 years until I broke my camera accidentally while cleaning it by myself. In 2013 I bought a Canon PowerShot SX50 HS as an interim solution. I wasn't with that thingy. Not at all. Though the zoom range was pretty impressive. I decided to go for full format. And so a long period of research had begun. Coming from Canon I first checked out that ones. A EOS 6D could be good... or... well, I only have two lenses, so why should I care to change the whole system? So, what does Nikon have...? D610... D800... hmmm... more tests and videos please. Wait... there's a Minolta legacy here... I loved that camera. And daddy got a lot of stuff... (that he wasn't willing to share with me - I didn't know that by that time ) - what is ist that Sony got here... oh... uh... that's nice. Why haven't I ever heard of it? Well. In 02/2014 I bought my Sony Alpha A99V and a Tamron SP 24-70mm Di USD (because the Zeiss lens is much too expensive for no weather sealing and such a small range of better image quality, in my opinion). After a few months I was going to search on eBay and forums for legacy lenses. There's so much wonderful stuff out there!! Minolta AF 70-210mm f/4 ("beercan") Minolta AF 50mm f/1.4 ("beercan" version) Minolta AF 70-200mm f/2.8 G HS Minolta AF 100 f/2.8 Macro ("beercan" version) About a month ago I decided to improve myself in shooting portraits. I've bought a mobile strobe: Priolite MBX 300 (wonderful stuff!!). Well, that's it for the moment. Hope to have fun here and make some friends. https://www.flickr.com/photos/seelenpfluecker/ https://500px.com/seelenpfluecker https://www.facebook.com/2wielicht PS: I apologize for my bad English.
