I was playing with my new A6500 and trying the autofocus on flying birds. While the shots aren't that spectacular, the autofocus system proved to be magnificent. Even when a tree partly blocked the view, the camera kept focus on the bird. Great! I really enjoy this camera!

I hot a new A7R II, and installed the latest firmware. But when I'm using it, it changes from autofocus to manual focus by itself, and back again to autofocus. Sometimes, it stops focusing at all, neither in autofocus nor manual focus. I have to turn off several times the camera to have it working back again. It doesn't happens allways, but more frequently when I connect a generic flash. Maybe I have a defective camera?

Second of two remarkable examples of how well the Sony A9 can track a small subject even through distracting or confusing backgrounds. Both shot with a Sony FE 70-300mm lens (I don't have the new 100-400 yet). To see this properly, a file size of ~10 MB would be ideal. I had to compress it to under 1MB, per the site requirements, so I have no idea how well it can be seen. Bottom line: after previously owning a Nikon D3S, Nikon D4 and Canon 1DX II over the years, I have never seen autofocusing and tracking as good as in the A9.

I have recently bought an A7II and I am loving it. I have never got into video before, but would like to give it a go. I have a question about the autofocus in video though. When in video mode I am locked into either AF-C or MF, but when I press the shutter button in AF-C it locks focus like AF-S does in stills mode. If I use the 'Center Lock-On' autofocus it tracks (poorly) until I press the shutter button (when again it locks focus and stops tracking), whereas it tracks really well in still mode with the shutter half pressed. Is this right? Am I missing something in the settings? Should I be using 'Center Lock-On' without pressing the shutter button to autofocus in video? Should I just give up with autofocus in video altogether? Any help/opinions would be appreciated.
