Sony A7r with Tamron f2.8 28-75mm

Recommended Posts

I decided on the $500 Tamron 28-75 for use with my Sony A7r and an LAEA4 adapter, because both the Sony and Zeiss comparable FE lenses were (1) not as fast, and (2) did not rate very well for clarity of images on the DXO site.  To use this combo, you do give up some of the size and weight advantage of the A7 series...and though the focus is fast and definite, it does not always nail it, which could, as often as not, be the result of operator error.  But when the focus is right,  this lens provides remarkable images at every part of its range, and for one of the "test shots" I use, which is photos of the stamens and pollen nodules in a hibiscus flower, it gave me a better result than even the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 after repeated tries.   I can't wait to try it with the new 7rII with image stabilization.
