Moderate weather resistance. Most clearances are pretty tight, but not sealed. Except for the battery door that has a rubber gasket. Go figure.

Sony, like other companies, will tell you warranty does not cover water damage.

IMO you would be fine.

I used mine in gale winds and light rain, carried either under clothing or shielded from direct wind. So it was only directly exposed while taking photos. Continued direct exposure to those conditions would certainly result in significant water ingress.

I have to tell my experience, just happened yesterday. I drop my A77ii into a river, with a Tamron 16300mm. It made bubbles while diving down. Rescued it, took the battery out and let it dry. It's functioning, I'll fully test it tomorrow, but I'm really amazed. And happy.

Haven't used mine in rain yet.  But I've had it out in extreme dusty conditions with no issues.

Every car left a massive dust cloud behind that just hangs in the air forever.  You see how low contrast is the background?  That's all the dust in the air from all the cars that go by.  It's everywhere, and there's nothing we can do but stand there and take it.

Sample pic

You can always tell at these events who are the pro photographers and who are the amateurs.  The amateurs are trying to protect and clean their cameras all the time.  The pro's give zero f**k's, their cameras are completely coated in dirt and dust.  They just get something they know can take it, and then wait til they get home to clean it up.
