Too much focus peaking!

Focus peaking needs a toggle. If I'm shooting a scene with plenty of branches and trees, there's so much peaking display that I can't see to compose my image. A button to turn it off for a moment would be greatly appreciated.

You don't mention which camera. Most Sonys allow you to assign specific functions to a button of your choosing. You could probably a program the AF-ON button to toggle focus peaking. Also, try using FP on the lowest setting. It will significantly reduce the amount of glistening pixels.

I thought of this, but it's way too cumbersome. Thing is to turn it off w/o changing the focus or frame, turn auto focus off so it doesn't kick in while releasing the shutter, etc...

Too cumbersome to assign it to a button? Well, then you're probably out of luck. Seems like that'd be a pretty simple solution. Not sure how it'd be cumbersome, just shift your thumb and push the button.

Another poster has pointed.out that the toggle is a single menu item. I've assigned it to one of my custom keys & problem solved.
