Hi all!

I've not had this before but as you can probably see in the sreenshot below, when I'm in video mode on my Sony A7siii, it captures the lens barrel. In stills mode, it's not present even with both wide open at 18mm. Does anyone know why this is?

I've had a look through the manual to no evail so any help would be much appreciated. The A7siii has been updated to the latest firmware (4.00) and the lens I'm using is the Sony 18-110mm F4. Just seems bizzarre that it doesn't occur in still mode

Many thanks in advance

Joe

It's an APS-C lens, so when shooting in stills the camera automatically switches over to APS-C mode, which crops out the edges to an APS-C sized sensor. It appears that it doesn't switch over when shooting video. You can try to switch the camera over manually, but since it's only 12MP to begin with, you're going to end up with really small files. Best to get full frame lenses for your full frame camera.

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes you're right. Feel like an idiot for not knowing that. Thank you so much for helping, I would have been trawling for ages. Will have a look at what FE lenses are on offer but it'll be such a shame to lose the long focal range and the servo zoom. You wouldn't happen to have any recommendations at all? We want to film ourselves biking overland but space is a real premium, like bicycle touring premium. Ideally, I would just take the one lens that could near enough do it all to save on space and weight
