Will the a7s II have 120fps in full frame mode?

Hey all,

 

My first post here.  Just wondering if anyone knew the answer to the question.  Will the a7s mark II allow 120fps slow motion while in full frame mode.  The original a7s only allowed 120fps while in APS-C Crop mode.  I can't seem to find this info anywhere.  Does anyone here know?

If I remember right when they announced it, the new A7S II will not have APS-C mode. So your answer should be yes if that was true.

My memory is that it will have APS-C, but only HD, not 4K. I can't find this right now, though.

 

But anyway, yes, Engadget says it does does do full-frame 120fps:

"But, it can now shoot 1080p video at 120fps with a full-frame readout, which Sony says is a first in its Alpha A7 series."

About 14 min in the video Tony says it will not have aps-c mode. The specs on Sony

website does not have aps-c listed. Im pretty bummed out by this.

He says "does not have the option to record 4K video is APS-C mode". To me, it sounds like he corrected himself to add the "4K" qualifier.

Now I'm confused because Engadget says that Sony said it will shoot 120fps in full frame, but this new review from mark gala http://www.markgaler.com/sony-alpha-a7sii-review says it will only shoot 120fps in Crop mode.

 

Who is right?

Throw Tony Northrups review and in his replies to comments of people asking the same question, he says crop mode only.

 

Mine shipped I will let you know early next week. But I'm pretty sure Tony figured it out, as he uses an A7RII for his videos now.

I have turned off APS-C/Super 35 and I'm still seeing 120p/100M as an option.  Are those the settings we're talking about?  Sorry, I'm still learning this somewhat obtuse menu system on this thing.

Now I read somewhere that not only does the A7S mk II shoot 120fps only in crop, its a whopping 2.2x crop (not a 1.5 crop).   So its not even doing super 35 its basically using a part of the sensor that is roughly MFT size.

 

Damn, looks like I'll be getting a speedbooster.
