Zeiss 18mm Underwater

I used the Zeiss 18mm F/2.8 underwater in the Philippines last month. 

 

Both images are shot using Sony A7R II, Zeiss 18mm, Nauticam underwater housing with a ZEN Underwater 200mm optical glass dome port with a Nauticam 20mm port extension and two Inon Z240 strobes.

 

The biggest problem with wide rectilinear lenses underwater is getting a proper port and extension combination for maximum corner sharpness.

Great shots ! Did you use the new Zeiss Batis 18mm f2.8 for this ?

 

I recently purchased this (excellent !) lens, hoping an underwater solution would soon be available for it.

That's very cool.  I'll bet all the underwater gear adds up to more than the camera. 

 

The turtle sure was mellow to allow you to get so close!

I love the edge-to-edge sharpness of the Batis wide-angle lenses and good to see that you found a solution to keep that quality underwater.

 

This motivates me to start a diving course, until now I am just an avid snorkeler...

Amazing pics! If only the Nauticam underwater camera housing was a bit cheaper...

You may want to read my review of the Ikelite housing for the A7R II, (A7 II ArS II) in the back issues at uwpmag.com. UW photography is not cheap and the Ikelite housing is a great value v. the aluminum housings.
