I own an a7ii camera. firmware version 3.30.

I think the eye detecting sensor is too sensitive. And not being able to toggle between the viewfinder and the monitor is really frustrating.

However, If you have an a7rii, you can assign one of the custom button as a toggle switch. But how come it is not available on a7ii? WHY??? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????? Do i really need to pay twice the price just for this function? This is ridiculous. At this price range not having this simple option is just absurd. Shame on you sony.

Gurung, Sony is somewhat new to this area and can maybe be excused. I also found the eye sensor on my a7R II totally useless. I could hardly use the camera until working out a custom button to toggle between the EVF and LCD.

WATCH THIS SPACE. I've modified my sensor, based on various mods others have posted, to FINALLY behave the way it should.

From turns off to early to turns off too late. Really, it's a matter of micro-millimeters to get it configured correctly. Set it once to where it wouldn't show EVF until I mashed eye against eye cup and that was a disaster. Been meaning to make a vid of my exacting mod and now that I've been shooting for three weeks with no more fiddling with it, I'll post a vid of what I did soon so WATCH THIS SPACE.

had that problem on my a7rii. was dirt on the sensor that was triggering the evf to be active all the time.

cleaning it saved me a lot of frustration.
