iLHP
Hi everyone. We did a three way comparison test between the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art vs. Sony 55mm f/1.8 vs. Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 last weekend and I thought I'd share some photos here with this community. The in-depth review is here http://ilovehatephoto.com/2015/03/31/the-mighty-fifties-zeiss-55mm-f1-8-vs-loxia-50mm-f2-vs-sigma-50mm-f1-4/ Welcome, dear visitor! First off, the size difference was pretty astounding, especially with the EF to FE adapter attached. The Sigma also weighed a ridiculous 810g without the adapter. The Loxia handled beautifully, the manual focus ring automatically activates the Focus Magnification feature. There is a bunch of wild peacocks in Pasadena, CA. Managed to capture one while it was strutting its stuff. Built quality of all three lenses are tremendous. Gotta love the Sony/Zeiss' 55mm f/1.8's concave front element. Found a Banksy in downtown LA, and we used this as our vignetting test. Both the Loxia and the Sigma had brighter corners than the Sonnar. We took the lenses out to Disneyland's California Adventure to give it a real world handling test. All in all, three super premium choices each with its own character and specialty.
