I'm looking for a full frame camera for wildlife photography

Been thinking of the 5Diii, A7ii (Not A7Sii) and/or the A7Rii.

I know the 5Diii is great for fast focusing and stills. Not as high quality, but it has better lenses and focuses faster.

But what about the A7ii or the A7Rii.

How would these compare?

I need to make a decision really soon.

I'm getting an underwater housing for either the Sony or the Canon cameras for underwater stills, but need to know which first.

I would take the A7ii + new G70-200 lens + 2x telecomverter

I second this. I'm currently using the a7ii with the 70-200 f4 for sports And even in low light situations, it still performs great.

I find the 5d3 to be very overpriced. I bought the a7ii over the 5d3 and am very happy with my choice.

How do you find the autofocus?

 Is it fast enough?

Do you know how its speed compares to the A7Rii and/or the 5Diii?

I don't know the speeds vs the other two, but it's probably not far behind the a7rii. The 5d3 being fastest forsure.

The af on the a7ii isn't crazy fast, but I don't find it slow at all.I definitely find it fast enough for my needs.

If you are seriously only wanting to shoot wildlife and are willing to look at only the Canon body and Sony body's you mentioned, you need to rethink this. I say this because I owned the Canon 7D II before selling it for my two Sony cameras. All the cameras you are willing to buy for wildlife, don't even come close to what that camera can do in that field for wildlife, but it's VERY similar to 5Diii in build.

I did rent the A6000 and the 70-200 and it kept up with my Canon 7Dii in that focal length. Just could do the reach that I had with my 100-400 lens from Canon. I still miss it sometimes when I'm shooting outdoors wildlife or action shots with pets at a distance, which is not often.

I would not suggest you to buy sony A7 series to shoot for wildlife. I personally have A7ii and A7s and have travelled to various places to shoot for wildlife (tanzania, india, borneo, madagascar, etc). Autofocus is not good and you don't have enough telephoto lens to choose.
