Sony a6000 AEL Button Does Not Work

I just took delivery on my second a6000,  purchased for the ridiculously low price offered as a Black Friday deal. I shoot a lot of sports and like to use the AEL button for back button shooting. I  tried setting it up like my other a6000 turning OFF AF w/shutter to enable the AEL button to handle setting focus. It does not work. I can use the center of the pad to hit the focus, but not the AEL button. When I turn it ON in the menu, the camera sets focus by pressing the shutter halfway. I think that the camera is defective. Thoughts???

For whatever reason I CANNOT DELETE THIS POST. I have fixed the problem with a menu adjustment. Camera works FINE!!!
