My brother-in-law will be gifting me a Sony A7Rii system in May.  I understand the Sony does NOT have a PC synch cord connector. I am wondering about an inexpensive way to trigger my Alien Bee studio strobes. In the past with my Canon cameras, I've used a PC cord attached to ONE of the ABs which will trigger the other ABs.

What do you recommend to trigger the studio strobes. I'm fine with still using a long synch cord.

Thanks in advance!    Hank

It is possible to get a small block that mounts in the hot-shoe that allows you to trigger a sync cable. That's probably your cheapest alternative.

Another option is to get a really cheap low power on-camera flash, and trigger both of the strobes using optical space.

I hate "autocorrect" (more like auto-corrupt!).

I meant "optical slave" in the above - letting the flash from a small on-camera flash trigger the optional slave / photo-cell on the studio units.

The little block that sits in the hot shoe has several names, but here are several examples:

Well the first thing I would do is find out, from the manufacturer of your strobes, what triggers will set them off.  Then, I would see if that system is compatible with the camera you plan to use.  Then I would purchase the equipment that you have found that works with your system.  As stated above, you can try a hot-shoe to PC and run your PC cord from that.  The adaptors are usually pretty cheap.
