January 24, 20187 yr Hi I’m looking for software or website that can find out my shutter count on my A7RII camera. I have already tried websites like shuttercounter.com and tools.science.si/index.php Which aren’t give me any counts. I’m using a Mac so I’m not able to use pc softwares. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

March 14, 20187 yr You can use exiftool, https://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ both for Windows and mac. For Windows there is a gui, exiftoolgui, for mac I don't know. Just look for ImageCount

March 20, 20187 yr Thanks! This is obviously meant for those with some programming skills. I'll keep looking. Just took a look at this tool.... actually no programming skills required at all... what a very useful little program! Birder52... just download the Windows program file exiftool-10.86.zip (5.9 MB) or MacOS Package: ExifTool-10.86.dmg (2.7 MB) and unzip it into same folder, or wherever you like to keep programs. You'll see a file with a little "camel" icon and filename exiftool(-k).exe Windows version: Just drag the file you want to know about from a browser onto this icon... it'll open a command window with the exif information all there for you! very nice indeed! Assume it would be the same for mac version....
June 25, 20187 yr I downloaded the exiftool and installed it. Apparently you have to run it via the terminal but I cannot find out how it works. I found the doc page here: https://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/install.html which says just to type "exiftool" into the terminal and hit enter, which I did, which then prompts a large amount of text to come up on the screen but I see no way to open an image or any documentation instructing on how to do so. Any help here would be great. Trying to find the shutter count on a SonyA7Rii.

Probably works the same in a mac...... see my post 2 above yours... no need to open a terminal window first. "Windows version: Just drag the file you want to know about from a browser onto this icon... it'll open a command window with the exif information all there for you! very nice indeed! Assume it would be the same for mac version...." 1. Open 2 x file browser windows, one showing the exiftool(-k).exe "camel" icon, the other the latest image file from your camera. 2. drag the image file onto the "camel" icon... at this point I get a popup window asking me to verify I want the tool to run (probably just work's security stuff)... hit RUN 3. WAIT.... WAIT.... WAIT..... eventually a terminal window opens with all the info you wanted in it....
October 13, 20187 yr Hello all! I would just like to add that I have updated the "original" online shutter count tool (http://tools.science.si) with all the latest SONY cameras and also changed the code, so that processing times are now extremely fast. Regards, Guy
