March 28, 201510 yr On the sony support website, it says that the firmware update 1.20 .... " Provides support for the SEL70200G lens:- Supports the "Fast Hybrid AF" function and future Fast Hybrid AF compatible E mount lenses- Adds the "Focus hold button" function " I had this lens in use on the A7 before the update and do not notice any change. I have even the impression that the autofocus is somewhat slower than before the update, but this may be subjectively ill-founded. So - does anybody know, how this "Fast Hybrid AF" function now newly manifests itself (how did it work before ?) when one is using the SEL70200G and in which way the "Focus hold button" is now integrated in the camera software other than before ?

March 28, 201510 yr Author https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37075/~/what-is-fast-hybrid-af%3F Thanks, Tim. This is well known and quite a general statement. What I would like to know is, whether other people who use the SEL70200G lens on the A7 also have the feeling that there is no change at all or even a change to a slower AF with the SEL70200G after having applied the 1.20 update.
March 28, 201510 yr Its only active in AF-C, and with certain AF modes - particularly those that work over the center area where the phase detect pixels are. IIRC that will be Center Spot, Center Area (sorry forget the name) and also Spot Tracking. So keep in mind, only active in AF-C, and most useful/noticeable with moving subjects. I assume the function is the same in the A7 (I have the A7MK2)
