March 2, 201510 yr This is an image thread for images taken with lenses from third party manufacturers like: Tokina Sigma Tamron Vivitar Samyang I will start with the Tokina 2.5/90 Macro, one of my favorite lenses:
March 6, 201510 yr SOLIGOR 60-300mm hand held at 300mm, f/8, ISO 400, 1,5m distance. The crop image showing the two flies, having fun in one of the flowers!
March 7, 201510 yr Good thread, and some wonderful images. Olympus qualify? (loaded question as I have a small selection of "Zuikos", and awaiting the correct adaptor to fit them to the A7). Gary
March 11, 201510 yr Author I think Olympus get a dedicated thread because Olympus is and was a camera maker Sigma 2.8/50 Macro: A small 1:1 Macro. I am not that thrilled by the built quality though
March 19, 201510 yr I got the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 in mid 2012, as a former owner of the legendary Nikon 14-24/2.8 I was amazed that Samyang could make a lens performing almost as good for that kind of money. Here's a mugshot on the A7R, coupled with a combination of two Noveflex adapter rings (a tripod mount can be attached to one of the adapter rings): Its ultra wide angle FOV, fast aperture and excellent sharpness wide-open makes it a very good candidate for shooting startrails, haven't used it much on the a7R/S (trying to make the VC 15/4.5 LTM work) so I will cheat a bit by showing some of my better images shot on a Nikon D800E, performance should be identical however with the a7 series as it's an DSLR lens which don't have the corner issues of the wide-angle M lenses. One gripe is the lack of a hard infinity stop while not being able to disengage the focus ring (focus by wire does have its advantages) so the trick here is to bring gaffer tape and fix the focus ring once infinity is dialled in to prevent the focus to be shifted accidentally. Startrails shot somewhere in the snowy Spanish Pyrenees (20 minute exposure, f/5.6, ISO200) And two shot on the Norwegian / Swedish border during a two week canoeing trip, my last trip with the D800E before I jumped ship to Sony (half hour @ f/4 and ISO100) Lightpainting my campsite with a 500 lumen Surefire flashlight and a Glo-Toob inside the tent (4 minutes @ f/2.8 and ISO100)
