February 14, 20169 yr Hi folks, From shooting with my canons (5D Mark II and Mark III) I am used to take note of the real file name of the picture on the monitor to make the connection to my notes of certain camera settings, as AF mode etc. Now, with my Sony a7R II I see only a file number, with no correlation to the real file name. Question: Are there any hidden settings to display the exact file name either on monitor or viewfinder? Thanks for any help!
Advertisement Hello Marolou, Take a look here: I’m not able to see the picture file name on monitor of my a7R II .
February 15, 20169 yr Indeed there is! If you select 'Menu' (easiest while in playback mode as it goes straight to the correct 'page') then it's the second item in the first page i.e. 'View Mode' Select that and then change to 'Folder View (Still)'. This will give you the file number, which is the four digits after the folder number. So you should now see something like 100-6085, in the top left corner, just to the right of the folder icon. The '100' is the folder and can count up if you create more, or the files numbers are date related. The '6085' would be the file number, which obviously changes! Hope that helps.
