  1. Hello! A very beginner question : How do you generate a colorbars from the A72? We want to calibrate an external HDMI monitor in our studio. Thanks!
  2. Hello Guys, I've got a problem with my a6300. I tried to connect it with an external monitor, but it always says: No HDMI Signal. I changed the HDMI cable, but the result was the same. I also tried different cameras and all of them are working, except the a6300. So I got my hands on to another monitor. It's a bit better here, I can see the camera options and the live view but the picture on the screen is pink, unusable for work. I tried different cameras again and they all worked. I also connected the a6300 to the monitor of my computer and it worked perfectly. Could you please help me?
  3. Hi folks, From shooting with my canons (5D Mark II and Mark III) I am used to take note of the real file name of the picture on the monitor to make the connection to my notes of certain camera settings, as AF mode etc. Now, with my Sony a7R II I see only a file number, with no correlation to the real file name. Question: Are there any hidden settings to display the exact file name either on monitor or viewfinder? Thanks for any help!
  4. My Sony a5100 dims significantly only when I’m recording to the point where I can barely see the screen. I never had this issue before and I am just looking for answers to my issue.
  5. When my display settings are set to "Auto" yet the "Auto" doesn't seem to be working at all. Visuals stay in the Viewfinder unless I switch to "Monitor (Manual)" in which case the monitor works. I've cleaned the viewfinder, but to no avail. I saw one other thread on this, but it didn't really elaborate on anything. Anyone else have this issue? If so, were you able to fix without sending to Sony? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi all. I was shooting birds with my a6600 this weekend and experienced multiple-second lockup of the "live" image on my viewfinder when activating the auto-focus. Here are more details: Focus set to AF-C continuous. Camera configured for rear-button activation of auto-focus (autofocus is not engaged by pressing main shutter release button half-way). Everything worked fine for about an hour. I took hundreds of photos. Then things started acting up. When I pressed the rear-button to activate auto-focus, the viewfinder image would freeze for about 2-4 seconds before showing live image again. And of course my bird would move within those couple seconds. A few things I tried unsuccessfully to fix the problem: Used rear display instead of viewfinder. Tried AF-S instead of AF-C. Changed away from and back to my M2 shooting mode (which is a custom camera mode I've configured for bird photography): Manual mode, Auto ISO, rear-button AF-C. Cycled power on the camera. Removed memory card, and then inserted and formatted a different memory card. Then, I removed the battery from the camera, waited 10 seconds and put the battery back in. This solved the problem and I continued shooting for another hour without problems. My experience was probably similar to what is shown in the video here, though it is difficult to tell from the video if activation of AF is initiating freeze-up of the "live" display: https://www.sonyalphaforum.com/topic/12851-a6400-lcd-viewer-freezes-in-photo-mode/?tab=comments#comment-51290 Has anyone else experienced this problem or know what causes it? Best regards, Brad Mitchell
  7. I recently bought an A7Rii used, but in excellent condition. I have an A7Riv and bought the Rii to use as a backup. I have set the Monitor/Finder to Auto, but when I lower the camera from my eye, the monitor does not go on. I have no problem at all with the Riv. I changed a few settings trying to fix the problem but nothing seems to work. Other than that, the camera works perfectly. Any thoughts?
  8. Hi Does anybody else struggle manual focusing on the a7sii screen, its almost impossible for me to work without a external monitor!. i use the zoom in focus feature, but it doesn't seem to help, when the clips are exported they are always sharp, but always look blurred on the a7sii screen like the led screen isnt in focus ! Any Help Thanks
  9. Hi everyone! i have a big problem using my rx100v on weebill S, using an external monitor. If i try to connect the camera to the weebillS , to control it, i can't see anything on the external monitor. It works just if i unplug the usb cable.. Somebody knows if there is any solution??
  10. Every time one takes a photograph, the picture is displayed on the monitor for about 5 seconds. Is there a way to limit this time to, say, three seconds? In the famously user-friendly menu I could not find an option to set the display time. What did I overlook? Kind regards, Freddy.
  11. Hi folks. First time poster here. Just got my A7ii. Haven't done any serious shooting with it yet, but first impressions are good. Just love the way it feels in my hands. A couple of concerns right off the hop, though. Here's one of them: To make the battery go a little longer, I'd like the monitor to remain off at all times except when in playback mode. So when shooting, I'd like the EVF to activate as expected, when I put the camera to my eye. And when I'm done shooting, I want the EVF to go off and the monitor to remain off. Now, I know at least part of this can be accomplished in the settings. Monitor can easily be switched to off. This is great while in shooting mode, and I can only assume that is saves some powet. But the problem is, if I want to go into playback mode or tinker with settings, I'd have to either do this with the EVF or temporarily turn the monitor back on (an inconvenience to say the least). It makes no sense to have to use the EVF while in playback mode. I assume I must be missing something. Can it be accomplished?
  12. Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else had an issue shooting 4k and out putting to monitor then having the image on camera going black. I unplugged the monitor and it worked fine. The really odd thing is that I was shooting for while before this problem started happening. I spoke to another camera operator using the A7s II and they said they had the same problem. Any info on this issue would be wonderful. Thank you
  13. When my alpha 7rII is in still photography mode, I see severe Moiré patterns in both the viewfinder and monitor. If I take a photograph, these do not appear in it. When the camera is in video mode, I don't see Moiré patterns in the viewfinder or monitor. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a remedy? The patterns are benign but distracting.
  14. Here´s a low budget solution if you want to use your Sony cam with an external monitor in my case i´m using an A7II + Nvidia Shield Tablet + Photecs Tablet-DSLR-Adapter-Set "Basic" (Amazon: http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00F0XS4O6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00) The Photec Adapter works on any standard hotshue and the build quality is very good and comes with an otg usb cabel once you have mounted the tablet on your hotshue, just launch the playmemories remote app on your camera and on the tablet you can set the app to manual mode and set also the camera to manual mode it really works well but there is still a bit noticeble lag what you cannot use is a picture profile in this app, thats a shame, i hope sony will update this app very soon! But you can go to the options of the app and set color, contrast, sharpness to -3 when you have set the app to manual mode, you can even record video in ISO 200 The results when recording in this app and with colorgrading, sharpening in premiere cc is pretty good, i was very surprised! I will post an example video soon If you do know how to enable picture profiles in the remote app please let me know and also it you do know any other better app that works with sony like the amazing dslr dashboard, please let me know!
