November 22, 20241 yr I recently purchased a 7CR with a Canon 8-15 and a Metabones V adaptor from B&H. When attaching the metabones to the camera body, it apparently broke off one of the lens contact pins that is used for the Sony APS-C lenses. As I started digging into it deeper, I've found several reports by others who broke the camera with the Metabones. Luckily, B&H replaced the camera, and credited the adaptor. I'm considering the Sigma MC-11 which doesn't seem to have any reports of breaking cameras, but the Metabones seems like it might have better functionality, since it is specifically built for canon lens Has anyone on here seen this issue with the metabones? Is there a fix for it? Thanks
November 22, 20241 yr The fix is to buy E mount lenses. Sony has the single largest lens stable in the world, not sure why you'd need to adapt Canon.
November 22, 20241 yr Author Yes, a Sony E mount lens would be the best option, but..... Unfortunately, I have a unique need for the fisheye. I have not found a Sony or third party fisheye lens that will work. So, I'm forced, for now, to make the Canon 8-15 work Edit: I should expand on my situation. I am using the camera and lens in an underwater housing. The maximum diameter that will fit the housing is about 3.25 inches. The Sigma fisheyes look great, but they are in the 4 inch diameter range. The housing manufacturer maintains a list of lens that fit, the Canon 8-15 with adaptor is the only fisheye on the list. Edited November 23, 20241 yr by fishinfool145
