A7IV - ARW not recognizable (still) after update

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've updated my A7IV with version 4.00.

Again, they "forgot" to update the read-out of the photos. Since the previous update, my phone and Lightroom does not accept the ARW files. I have to convert all my files to DNG before I can edit them in Lightroom.

Does anybody also have this issue?

And no, I don't want to use Sony software for editing..

The problem is not with Sony but with your 3rd party software, which needs to be updated. Best only update your camera firmware once the corresponding update for your favourite editing software is released. Usually takes a couple of weeks before software is updated to be able to read the newest RAW files.

I've never had software stop recognizing files from a firmware update. Once the software recognizes the camera you should be ok. Not saying this isn't possible, just seems odd.

It'd be worth contacting Adobe's CS to ask them.

You didn't happen to switch over the Lossless Compressed RAW at some point, did you? I have some software that won't properly recognize the smaller files even three years later.
