Hey everyone,

I've been noticing strange noises when filming with my Sony A7SIII and the Sony FE 24–70mm f/2.8 GM lens. The camera is running on factory settings, and I'm using autofocus. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

I've uploaded a video that shows the problem in more detail. I suspect it might be related to the lens since I bought it second-hand. I'd really appreciate any tips or solutions!

My Setup:

  • Camera: Sony A7SIII
  • Lens: Sony FE 24–70mm f/2.8 GM
  • Settings: Factory defaults
  • Focus Mode: Auto Focus

Sounds like the focus motor/gears grinding. I'd send it back ASAP. 

Does it also make that sound while focussing for photography?

I had the same problem with my 16-35mm GM and had to send it to Precision Camera for repair. It was the 2nd Group Block Assembly. $680 to fix.
