Perfect timing.   Headed for a 3 week vacation tomorrow, but I can't get the battery out of the 6500!

Any hints?

THanks

Never mind - got it out using one of those things you stick on a chair leg to protect the floor. It stuck enough to pull the battery out.  It was a SONY battery.  I tried 3 other batteries, and one of them also stuck - a 3rd party battery.  So I'm off for 3 weeks in europe with only 3 batteries. IF I can find room in my suitcase for the camera!  🙂

Never put a camera in a suitcase - I did that many many years ago, wrapped in a towel and surrounded on all sides by clothes. It did not survive. Always carry it as hand luggage.

The batteries that stuck - were they swollen? That can happen to damaged lithium batteries - it’s dangerous (as in “catching fire” dangerous!). I’d suggest disposing of swollen batteries carefully.

Good points, but it's best to keep a charged battery in the camera -- to keep the internal battery "alive".

Sure is. The rate of discharge of the battery when the camera is off and there's no lens on the camera is very very small, and having it in the camera means all your settings are preserved - setting up an empty camera can take a while!

And having a good battery in the camera give you another reason to USE IT!!!
