September 7, 201510 yr Another very nice old east German lens. Very versatile, good for pretty much anything. General walkaround, portraits, landscape, product, etc. Shorter minimum focus distance than most normal lenses so can do decent closeups as well. Fully usable wide open, very sharp when closed down a bit. Mine is in zebra style, not the newer all black MC version. A little sussceptible to flare but can easily be avoided. The lens itself: Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm/1.8 by Miran Amon, on Flickr A few samples (portrait and closeup wide open, landscape at f/5.6 or f/8 I think): NEX6_0001_8940 by Miran Amon, on Flickr NEX6_0001_8124 by Miran Amon, on Flickr NEX6_0001_8882 by Miran Amon, on Flickr Do you have one? September 10, 201510 yr I have the Zebra too. It`s a good lens, but not outstanding and you will find many "just as good" 50`s from manufactures like Schacht, Meyer, Pentax, Konica++ from the same period. The MC version of the Pancolar was made from 1978 to 1990 and is known to be the best performer from this lineup which stretched all the way back to the first alu version in 1956. Here is shot from mine
