Hi,

Anyone using Lee Seven5 Filters on A7x lenses? I'm wondering if they work well with long exposures and also on the larger diameter lenses 67mm & 72mm.

Thanks, Tim.

Yes, I use the Seven5 system. The Batis 2/25 (67mm) on my A7R II plays nicely together with the big stopper and 30 seconds exposure time.

It's amazing, you can see a bright picture in the EVF even with the big stopper!

24mm is about the widest focal length that's possible with the A7 series cameras and Seven5 filters. My Batis 25 works, also my Distagon 2.8/25 ZF. Longer focal lengths don't show any vignetting.

I've got the 16-35mm F4 as my widest.  From looking through their documentation, I went with the standard Lee 100 system, to minimize vignetting.  At 16mm, I get a very tiny amount, at 17mm, it's gone, and usable.  That is using a triple filter stack, and the wide angle version of the adapter ring.

Thanks for the comments. I've ordered a Seven5 kit on the basis that if with works on the Batis 25 then I'm happy. If all is well I might try it on my 70-200 f4, not sure what to expect with that one.

The LEE Seven5 System Deluxe Kit arrived today from a UK retailer (even after conversion to Euros it was cheaper than in Germany ...). I'm not sure what is in the other Kits, never the less this Kit is quite comprehensive and includes:

  • 3 ND Grads in a Tripple Filter Wrap
  • 1 Big Stopper in a Filter Wrap
  • 1 Filter Holder (holds unto 2 filters) in a felt bag
  • 1 Polariser (connects to the front of the Filter Holder
  • 2 nylon bags for holding/protecting filters (not listed on the web site but included in the box!)

Its very nicely made, compact, and at least works OK with a Loxia   :D   but I guess that a 72mm diameter lens might be beyond the limit. I will try it some day on my SEL70200G4 ...

Definitely quicker and easier than trying to fix stuff in PostP.

The 72mm adapter and two filters work without problems on the SEL70200G4 at all focal lengths. I have both.

What camera are you using it on?

I recently took a photo using the big stopper on my 24-240MM lens and got a lot of vignetting.

I had it on my A7M2 and the image was taken at 31MM.

I'll have to go out and try using it again and experiment with my 16=35MM as well to see if I get vignetting with it.

According to Lee though on their website the Seven5 system is not designed to be used with FF cameras.

Thanks, I was also interested in what Klaus's camera might be. I just noticed here in an earlier post that he's using a A7RII.

You've got some great images posted on 500PX.

The Loxia lens produces really crisp and sharp images.

I'll  have to go out and do some additional testing for sure.

Hi Folks,

I did a test this morning using the Seven5 Big Stopper on my Sony 16-35MM lens which has a 72MM filter size, using my A7M2

At 24MM I get no vignetting at all see photo. At 16MM as can be seen in the included photo, its unusable.

Looks like I'll have to buy the 100MM model if I want to take any images below 24MM.
