June 23, 201510 yr Dear friends, Yesterday I tried to update the firmware of my Sony A7s. After updating, camera is not working at all. It fails to turn on 9 out of 10 times and when it turns on , I can see only the mode that the camera is in, at the screen, for example I can see only the letter M (for manual) I try to reinstall the firmware but the update programme does not recognise the camera over the cable. Its only 3 months camera and I dont know what to do. I have send a mail to Sony support but they have not yet reply to me. Does anyone know what I have to do? Is there a way to reset or hard reset the camera in order to update again? When I bought the camera and made the update for version 1,2 everything was working correct. Now nothing is working. Please any ideas? Thank you
June 24, 201510 yr I had the same problem when trying the update from a Mac.... I used my husbands PC and it worked ! I just connected the apparently dead camera via USB to the PC and ran through the update procedure... it then all came back to life and I had a working camera again

July 17, 201510 yr I'm sorry to hear about your troubles... Could someone send me a link pointing to the download of a7s firmware update? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
July 20, 201510 yr Sony has made the statement before that firmware updates may not work with "Starter versions" of windows 7. 8 or 8.1. Apparently there are components or updates in those starter versions that may be missing that the firmware update utility uses. It is advisable that the OS, if 64bit, be able to support 32bit applications. Examples of this in Windows 7 would be Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Premium. It is possible for windows 7 home to also work,, if the the proper updates have been download to enable 32bit support.
January 23, 20169 yr Reconnect your Sony A7s with a PC/Windows system, the dead camera will be updated again.
